The Explorers Program at
Aloha Airlines is a great opportunity for students on Oahu ages 16-20 to
experience what is involved in running an actual airline. Since the
program's inception in 1990, the Explorers Program has graduated over 400
students. Employees of Aloha Airlines run the program and serve as
valuable advisory mentors. The overall concept is to introduce students to
the various career fields at Aloha Airlines. Students are able to
learn "hands-on" about the career duties, responsibilities, and requirements
for positions such as Flight Attendants, Airline Pilots, and Customer
Service Agents. The career exploration program runs for 10 weeks.
How to Apply
An
Orientation for the program is held annually in January at the main auditorium
at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama. High school and post-secondary students
(ages 16-20) are invited to attend. Information and applications for the
program are available then. Applicant interviews are held in February where a
total of 30 students are selected to participate in the program. Tuition
for the program is about $50.
Typically, the 10-week program starts in March and runs through Graduation in
May. Graduates receive a 'certificate' signed by the CEO of Aloha
Airlines.
